A Republican win is a Putin win

The GOP is now the Fascist Party of America

It has become routine to call the former Republican Party the Trump Party, but that’s a dangerous detour from the truth, which is that it’s now the American Fascist Party.

If Republicans regain control of Congress the American public will have handed Vladimir Putin a spectacular victory, because his strategic aim, much larger than his territorial greed in Ukraine, is to divorce the West and its leader, the United States, from its democratic ideals.

The former Republican Party has become Putin’s suck-up. Next month the Conservative Political Action Conference, CPAC, will will meet in Hungary where Viktor Urban, a Putin ally, has pulled off a fascist coup.

A Republican win in the next election would sell out Ukraine. It would betray the sacrifice of American and allied soldiers who fought against fascism in World War II. It would spell the end of Nato and the European peace it has achieved since World War II.
