A corrupt justice of the Supreme Court has just broken the U.S. Code in plain sight, and a press all too willing to be corrupted is reporting it as a routine story. Justice Clarence Thomas should not under the law have temporarily blocked a Fulton County prosecutor from requiring Sen. Lindsey Graham’s testimony because Thomas’ wife is involved in that prosecution of an attempt by the Trump gang to overturn 2020 election returns in Georgia. The law is clear. It’s a brazen and unprecedented violation of the law by a Supreme Court judge. There is no precedent for Chief Justice John Roberts to order Thomas to fecuse himself, but—and this is crucial—there is no precedent that would inhibit him from ordering Thomas to step aside. So here we have a corrupt justice and a craven chief justice and an even more craven press.
